INTRODUCING THE OFFICIAL MANMMA SPORTS BOOK

Want to make a friendly wager on your fighters? This is the place to do it! Official odds for ManMMA events will be posted in the fight announcements page, but for the first ever event, the odds will be posted below.

The directions are simple. A favorite (-200) means you'd need to bet two points, and then you could profit a point in return! An underdog (+200) means for every one point you bet, you could win two in return!

It's all about the + or - at first. If there is a + then that means they're an underdog. You can bet however many points you want, and then the + is what you'd get in return. So if you bet 2 points on Randy Couture as a +150, then you'd win three points, and get the two points you bet back.

If you're betting on a favorite, you have to match the number, or go over it in order to win a point, because they're the favorite. So if you bet on Shevchenko, who is a -300, you'd have to bet three points to win a point. Or six points to win two points. Betting on big favorites is kinda risky though.

So, give me an example of what I would win if I bet on either of these fighters between 1 and 3 points so I can understand the payout part.

First lets start with Overeem.

Since he's a minus 170, you'd have to bet at least two points to earn back 1.17 points, because unfortunately decimals are going to be a thing. But you'd get the two points you spent, and an additional point. Unsure if we're going to do anything about the decimals yet. If you bet three points, you'd get your three points back, and 1.76 points back in profit.

Couture is different, since he is a +150, you can earn way more points by winning. If you bet one point, you win 1.5 points and your point back. Total return is 2.5, profit is 1.5. If you bet two points, you win 3 points. Total return is 5, profit is 3. If you bet three points, you win 4.5. Total return is 7.5, profit is 4.5.

If they lose their bet, the points go to me! The Oddsmaker! I'm kidding, they go to ManMMA. What I would like to do, is have the percentages stick, and those can roll over to other bets and winnings. Or if I have to refine the odds to always have a solid number, that could be done as well, but if someone ends up with 1.4 points, then they could bet 1.4 on something, or if they win 1.6 on something else, then they have three total.

After a chat with The Sandman, we've come to the conclusion that fractions of points are going to be too chaotic. So we're going to Round up and down for simplicities sake. As an example, if you bet on someone who is a -140 favorite, it rounds down to 1 and 1 point can win you one point, but if they're a -160 favorite it rounds up to 2, so you'd need a 2 point bet to win 1 point.

Same for the plus odds, if they're a +135 Underdog, 1 point wins 1 point. If they're a +175, Round up and 1 point wins 2 points. The Mighty Ducks I'm gonna need a two point bet from you to make that bet even worth it lol.
