Our team recently caught up with the 'Canadian Psycho' Rory MacDonald outside Phoenix FC Headquarters in Vancouver this afternoon to see if he had any comments about Khabib Nurmagomedov's recent challenge to Jon Fitch's #1 contendership fight.
ManMMA.com: Rory... What do you think of Khabib trying to challenge Jon Fitch for the #1C?
Rory MacDonald: I think he's a slimy piece shit, just like the rest of his team, and their owner.
ManMMA.com: Do you believe you deserve the shot over Khabib, as your GM Kruzer suggests?
Rory MacDonald: In a word... Yes. I'm ranked 9th, Khabib is what? 12th? 14th? 20th? 13th... Thank you. Not even in the top 10. Of course I deserve a shot over Khabib. That's not even a question. But then there's Fitchy to consider here too. He's a former teammate, and a friend... He deserves the shot as much as I do, and he earned it. It's not his fault GSP took the easy road with Survivor Series, and failed. Now this dipshit Khabib thinks he's worthy from miles back? Nah... Fitchy's the #1 contender... Not some greasy wannabe from the Texas Garter Snakes.
ManMMA.com: It's been suggested that you fight Khabib, and the winner faces Fitch for the 1C. Is that something you'd be interested in?
Rory MacDonald: I've said it before... I'll fight anyone. If that slimy garter snake bitch wants to step in to the cage with the Canadian Psycho... I'm game. But as far as the #1C against Fitchy being on the line is concerned... Fitchy earned it. That's his shot, as far as I'm concerned. GSP took the high road on him and failed... It's Fitchy's turn to take the shot at BJ and the Bear.
Georges St-Pierre was to be Fitch's opponent for #1C position in the ManMMA tournament, but GSP elected to take his shot at Survivor Series; Bypassing the #1C fight against Fitch, and leaving Jon Fitch as the sole #1 contender to BJ Penn's title after his failure to capture the gold at Survivor Series.
But, from the #13th ranked position, Khabib Nurmagomedov came out of the woodwork and challenged Fitch for the #1C in place of GSP. The Mighty Ducks stalwart, being the man he is, accepted the challenge... But is it fair to the division? Is it fair to ManMMA?
Only Mana White can decide that for certain.
As it sits right now, this reporter is looking forward to see what happens next.
