Julianna Peña gave an interview to a single reporter from ManMMA Times after the announcement of the Grand Prix matchups - one that sees her rematch against Erin Toughill, Peña's opponent in her last controversial loss.
Reporter: "First off, what's the current status of your complaint with ManMMA over crowd interference?"
Peña: "It's dead in the water. To this date we have received no response from league management regarding the actions of the crowd or the lack of reaction from Mario Yamasaki. It's very disheartening to know that the league doesn't care about its fighters."
Reporter: "Are there any next steps to that process?"
Peña: "I have a team of lawyers hired to investigate potential legal avenues - specifically around the inaction of Mario Yamasaki as potential corruption/gambling on the fight and the league's follow-up inaction as to whether they are complicit in the matter."
Reporter: "Looking ahead, your next fight is against Erin Toughill, who was your opponent in your last match. What was your thoughts when you saw that announcement?"
Peña: "It doesn't take away the loss on my record from our last matchup, but it's a decent consolation prize to at least have a rematch and a chance for a fair fight not impeded by idiotic crowd members chucking shit at the fighters. I haven't spoken to her since the last fight, but I'm sure Erin is excited for a chance to show what a good untainted fight between us would look like - fair, hard fought, and most importantly unimpeded."
Reporter: "Finally, what's your expectation for your team, the Outback Cyclone, in this first round Grand Prix matchup?
Peña: "Sons of Anarchy is a tough fight club, and all of our matchups will be tough tough battles, but I have all the faith in the world in my guys - Tui, Chuckie, Charles, and Mike are all tough tough guys and they'll give it their all on these matchups and hopefully I'll be talking to you next week discussing our second round matchup."
Only time will tell what the outcome of the Venezuelan Vixen's fight against Erin Toughill will be, but a chance at an unblemished fight is surely a welcome one for everyone involved.
