In their much publicized rematch, Julianna Peña showed up and showed off - knocking out Erin Toughill within the first minute. Today Peña held a press conference to discuss her victory and the performance of her whole team.
Reporter A: Julianna, you seemed more than ready for that fight. Can you explain your mindset going into that match?
Peña: Since I was prepared for a longer fight last time, I was already mentally prepared for this fight - I just continued that preparation and did what I knew I had to do in order to win.
Reporter B: What do you think of your teams rather unexpected victory over the Sons of Anarchy team?
Peña: People made us out to be these big underdogs, but don't discount the Storm. We're scrappy, and I think other teams discount us because of how new of a team we are. We're okay with that - the element of surprise can work for us. Big ups to Tui and Chuckie and tough luck to Charlie and Brown.
Reporter C: What're you looking at for the upcoming set of matches against the Texas Rattlesnakes?
Peña: We're gonna go mess with Texas. We have fighters from Venezuela, Brazil, Australia, plus Chuckie and Brown - all genuinely tough guys unlike fake-ass Texans hiding behind their weapons and "don't tread on me" flags. Discount us all you want - I think we're gonna show up and shock a lot of people.
Reporter A: Valentina Shevchenko is currently ranked at #2. How does that change how you prepare for this fight?
Peña: It doesn't.
Reporter A: Can you expound on that?
Peña: Doesn't matter what she's ranked at or where I'm at. All that matters is the outcome - and I think you may be surprised to see a Venezuelan Vixen rising above whatever she is and jumping in the rankings you all care so much about. See you at the fight.
Peña stands up and leaves the room. We will have to see how this fight plays out, but it's apparent Peña is very quickly turning herself into one of the most outspoken fighters in ManMMA.
