Ahead of her upcoming fight, Valentina Shevchenko met with ManMMA Junkie for an exclusive backstage interview.
Reporter: Valentina, thank you so much for joining us. Congratulations to you and your team's dominating performance in the first round of the Grand Prix. What can expect from your team in the next round?
Valentina: More of the same. We are here to bring home another Grand Prix trophy. We beat the defending GP champions already, I don't see Outback Cyclones or anyone else getting in our way.
R: Valentina, did you see Julianna Peña's post-fight interview? She had a few choice words for you and the rest of your team.
V: I did see it. I am glad she is having fun right now. Enjoy the spotlight, because in a few nights you get brought back to Earth. There are levels to this game, and other teams can't compete with us.
R: She had a lot to say about you guys are from. Texas, in particular. What are your thoughts on that?
V: It's fine, she can say what she wants. We have fighters from all over the world too. Location is irrelevant, the name is a reference to a former pro wrestler. She is just trying to build hype for the fight. She knows she isn't ready for this level. Maybe I will see her again next year when she is ranked in the top 10.
R: How well do you think the rest of your team stacks up against the Outback Cyclones?
V: Fantastic. We've been watching a lot of footage, and everyone is really confident. I see us advancing to the finals with little to no issue. Same can be said for whatever team advances. I'll be honest, I'm hoping for Lord Byron. I've been wanting a crack at Megan Anderson.
R: That would be an awesome fight. Would you be willing to answer some questions from our live chat?
