Wonderful fight. If the momentum meters are to be believed, Gomi kept taking rounds and holding a lot of momentum throughout, but Newton was doing very meaningful damage. Since Gomi's toughness is light, Newton's consistent attacks kept Gomi in the danger zone all fight basically. While Gomi wins on judges scorecards (and damage), Newton had him way closer to finish for much longer of the fight. But since he never really dominated the fight to get Gomi to that point, it never mattered enough, and he wasn't able to capitalize. For next steps, Gomi needs toughness, and Newton - he's just on the right track, so pretty much any other ugprades will help him, since he looked pretty good. I would have liked to have seen 10 rounds in this one.

Wonderful fight. If the momentum meters are to be believed, Gomi kept taking rounds and holding a lot of momentum throughout, but Newton was doing very meaningful damage. Since Gomi's toughness is light, Newton's consistent attacks kept Gomi in the danger zone all fight basically. While Gomi wins on judges scorecards (and damage), Newton had him way closer to finish for much longer of the fight. But since he never really dominated the fight to get Gomi to that point, it never mattered enough, and he wasn't able to capitalize. For next steps, Gomi needs toughness, and Newton - he's just on the right track, so pretty much any other ugprades will help him, since he looked pretty good. I would have liked to have seen 10 rounds in this one.
