I grew up on horror movies - Child's Play 1, 2, and 3 were huge. Nightmare on Elm Street, particularly Freddy's Dead, which I loved. And Friday the 13th movies as well, particularly Parts 5 and 6 for some reason. Then the required comedies, like Wayne's World, Addams Family, then later on Ace Ventura and Austin Powers type things. Special fun-bad things that fewer people have heard of that were my favourites as a child: Double TroubleClass of 1999Mac and MeFlight of the Navigator

Spider-Man (2002) This is the earliest movie I ever remember watching. Sometimes I feel I first gained real consciousness while watching it. It has been a huge factor on my love for Superheroes and Spider-Man in particular. It will always hold a special place in my heart. Music and CGI were ahead of their time as well.
Scooby-Doo (2002) Yes, I know this movie sucked, but I also loved Scooby-Doo and the movie as a child. It's funny to me that so many people think of Matt Lillard from Scream and Sarah Michelle Gellar from Buffy, but I always thought of them as Shaggy and Daphne.
Shrek 1&2 cuz fuck you Great music, great voice acting, jokes were top tier, and honestly fuck off if you disagree, these movies are hilarious and I might watch them right now when I finish typing this. (He says knowing damn well he's just going to continue with True Detective)
Star Wars: The Phantom Menace (1999) Not my favorite Star Wars by any means, but I remember watching this movie on repeat as a kid knowing I needed more lightsaber action. Which is funny because this movie only had one good scene, which was Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon vs. Darth Maul. Which I knew even as a child because I always just rewound to that part on the VHS. Fuck the rest of the film, although I always thought Jar Jar was funny. Guess the movie was made for kids of my generation.
Night at the Museum (2006) Is that the first time I've ever typed or read museum? Likely not, but it looks so wrong for some reason. This movie was pretty bad, but it was one of the first DVDs I remember getting from Blockbuster, and as a kid I hid the disc because I didn't want to give it back, and then they went out of business.... unrelated probably, but we got to keep that movie and we watched it a lot on repeat, so I think of it a good amount. I really liked it at the time, but don't know if it still holds up.
Honorable Mentions: The Incredibles Jeepers Creepers Austin Powers

Mighty Ducks 1 and 2 cannot tell you how many sleepovers involving mini stick hockey and video games led to winding down with this. Always laughed when Canada was basically ignored for the sequel but Jamaica’s jerseys were fire. It’s knucke-puck time and flying v were a staple of our hockey practices.
The Sandlot and Stand By Me an oddly perfect pairing. The fun side of that summer hang with your buddies mixed with a not so pleasant hang with your buddies. The train scene gets me every time.
Hook is still my favorite iteration of Peter Pan. Rufio was the shit and the food fight scene was one of the greatest and magical scenes ever. I still quote this movie almost daily. “You’re doing it, Peter!”
Fievel Goes West was one one of my most watched movies so I could see the showdown between mice and cats. And the pretending to be a dog scene for a cat training still makes me laugh.
The Little Giants and Casper/Addams Family and Values first time I saw them was during my brother’s birthday party sleepover as a double feature movie rental night. Casper woke something up inside of me and Christina Ricci would forever be my first crush. Thought the effects were incredible. Giants was a wonderful ride of friendship and being an outsider.
The Chipmunk Adventure is still one of the best musicals ever made. It’s a story about three boy and three girl chipmunks racing around the world to deliver dolls the fastest from air balloons except it’s for diamonds using a money laundering scheme and it’s a CHILDREN’S MOVIE. Love it.
