I've always been an advocate of being able to say what you want to say, and not have it being judged by your ability of something minor, which in this case is acting in a show. I feel like general media is starting to get into this dangerous area where soon people will be so-called 'Cancelled' because someone farted, and it smelled like Donald Trump's toupee. It's not a great direction. What if, hypothetically, you are a company that specializes in providing content for young children, and one of your major stars is telling that very same audience of children that masks are a hoax and you should have the freedom to not wear them? Publicly stating that masks are a hoax and anti-mask memes, in my opinion, are two different things. I have yet to see her state and rally really against masks. I know that she dislikes the increasingly enforced policies. Also add onto the fact that her character in the show is pretty minor in the scheme of things, and will most likely be forgotten in about 10 years. This firing had more to do with the whole Jewish-Republican comparison she made on her story. Gina posts very dark humour on those twitter and instagram stories, and Lucasfilm more or less didn't want to deal with dark humour. Like, I get why the firing happened, and it was probably in the contract she signed about some kind of social media policy, but at the end of the day the firing will be politically driven, which a lot of cancel culture has become. - Oh, you said orange man good? You're fired. |

- Oh, you said orange man good? You're fired. This is what Republicans tell themselves is happening. But when you look at what is actually happening, each case is different, and each case usually involves some byproduct of orange-man syndrome (like saying facts are not real, elections are rigged, or the Clintons run a pedophile op). i.e. Roseanne was not deleted from Roseanne because she supported Trump - it was because she said a black woman looked like an ape and made holocaust jokes. It just seems Republicans, particularly orange-man cultists, like spreading misinformation or dangerous theories, and less and less of society is on board with those things. |

Hello All,
Thoughts on Gina cancelling. While I never like the idea of censorship there is always the question of what to do as private organization. The thing I always come back to is that because these are private businesses they can choose to do what they want. It makes no sense for Disney to keep someone like that. Who knows though, Disney 'Fired' James Gunn but they then rehired him. Just a sad thing to see, it just seems like whenever conservatives talk about censorship it is always the mask off anti-sematic type comments that they are concerned about.

Keep in mind, we are talking about the same circle of ownership groups (Lucas, Spielberg, etc.) that fired Megan Fox because she off the cuff said working with Michael Bay was like working with Hitler:
The controversy erupted in 2009, when Fox told Wonderland magazine that Bay was ‘a nightmare to work with’. “He’s like Napoleon and he wants to create this insane, infamous mad-man reputation,” Fox said. “He wants to be like Hitler on his sets, and he is. So he’s a nightmare to work for but when you get him away from set, and he’s not in director mode, I kind of really enjoy his personality because he’s so awkward, so hopelessly awkward. He has no social skills at all. And it’s endearing to watch him.”
So, anything related to Nazi/Hitler/Holocaust, yeah, I would imagine there's a lot of black listing going on. Not defending, or supporting, just pointing out a similar firing.
