The Fall of Castle Alaric - Part 1

DM:





Jif then attempts to assist Blurgle in getting a better look by standing on top of the podium and then climbing to the top of the start of the maze. But as he does so, Blurgle's slippery skin makes it nearly impossible. Or, perhaps, it was Jif's inability to hoist another anything into the air on account of his being a weak dangly arm of a man. Or, maybe Blurgle didn't liked getting picked up from there. It's hard to say which, but one thing is for sure, it failed miserably, and the pair tumbled to the ground together.

They stood up and gave each other a long, uncomfortable stare.



Jif, distracted now by where a stare used to be, gave Blurgle enough time to approach the podium. Everyone else basically just stands still watching all of this happen like a weird creepy audience with exactly zero feedback.

Blurgle approaches, touches, and deciphers the ancient language.

"It reads," Blurgle begins, continuing to sense out the ancient markings, "it reads 'here lies a podium.'"

Arthur: "Really?"

Blurgle: "No. It says, 'where there is light, the path is dark. Where the dirt sinks, there is air.'"

*Arthur attempts to assist in the fire setting. He runs forward and leaps in to the air, and turns on his rocket thrusters. A small flame kicks out, and maybe it sparks the podium, maybe not. One thing is for sure, his boots were damaged in his travel, and he falls to the ground.*

DM:

The podium burns and a hole below is revealed. Jif does the dance of the tards, and Arthur is a fan of fire. Heroes can choose to advance or reach into the ominous dark hole.

Blurgle sticks his head in the hole

DM:

William reaches into the hole with caution, but his hand is swatted away by Blurgle.

"Outta tha way, merman coming through!"

William smells his hand. Surprisingly, the sticky slime that came off of Blurgle tastes just like skittles, but those aren't invented yet, so some other, small, sugary, colourful treat from the 1800s. Let's go with... painted rocks sprinkled with sugar.

"Wow, this tastes just like sprinkled sugar rocks, I exclaim!" William exclaimed.

Jif looks inside and wonders if Blurgle notices anything.

"Seems a bit small for an entrance," Jif wanted to say, but he didn't, because he can't speak.

Blurgle now stands inside the pit. Arthur is around somewhere, aimlessly looking for ways to start fires, and wonders, is it Alex Is On Fire, or A Lexis On Fire? The world will never know.

DM: Blurgle insists on telling everyone how amazing he is at jello wrestling in the merman world. He was crowned junior junior champion of the junior mints division under the banner of the kool-aid sponsored oh yeah sector of mermanicle tentacle wrestling.

Everyone believes him and now fears him slightly more.

Despite the pit being dark, it is not pitch black as our heroes expected and they begin to move forward through the dark. In their way is a statue of a man.
