Also it's quite sad that you guys seem more offended by the beer comment than the school shooting comment. As if you've just learned to accept that it's apart of your country That was part of the joke on why I only commented on the beer. Also, I haven't accepted anything about school shootings, but that didn't make your inclusion untrue. Sadly, it's the only part we can argue.

The US part of this is true lol. I think it has a lot to do with alcohol is so demonized in schools and stuff while kids are growing up, and they think they're being bad when they get drunk. Alcohol is a normal part of other countries where the age limit is a lot younger, and you see a lot less alcohol problems in those places. I think other people have more respect for alcohol than what Americans do. Y'all are so damn backwards it doesn't even make sense lol. *18 year old wants to buy a gun* Minimal background check, can find a gun in the nearest Walmart *18 year old wants to buy alcohol* Whoah kid hold your horses, you can hurt yourself if you drink too much. You must wait until your 21, only then are you responsible enough to hold your liquor. Hey, you wanna go buy a gun? The hilarious thing is one of the main reasons that you can't drink until you're 21 is because of school performance problems. "Well you see little Jimmy, when the gunman comes in to blow your brains out we want you to be 100% sober so that you can remember the traumatizing screams of your classmates if you're lucking enough to get out alive"

Our country is hella messed up - just not from beer. Bourbon, however...

Would you guys want to make guns illegal? Personally, no I don't think that would solve the problem, because I think gun owners would be willing to start a Civil War over it. However, I don't feel like semi automatic rifles are necessary.

What do you think would solve the problem? Truthfully, I think it's way more of a complex situation than what people think. No one solution will solve it, and I haven't heard of a good plan that would solve it. I wish I knew how to solve it.

What do you think would solve the problem? I hesitate to really get into this because I see a lot of viewpoints, but primarily we need a more comprehensive mental health wellness program nationally. A vast majority of the shootings you see on the news are due to various mental health issues. We need to stop focusing as strongly on the tool and way more strongly on the people holding it. I tend to agree that semi automatic rifles aren't needed. Problem is, once you ban guns stabbings go way up. Once you ban knives death by vehicular manslaughter will go up. Bad people will do bad things to others regardless of the tools we give them - we need to focus on what makes bad people bad and deal with the cause, not the symptom.

Then why does no other country have this problem? It's a lot easier to kill a person with a gun than it is with a knife.

It's easy to skew numbers on a mass shooting scale. How about a graph of just all gun related deaths in general?
Also, if they pass a law that allows current owners to be grandfathered in, i think they'd get a lot more support on it.

It's easy to skew numbers on a mass shooting scale. How about a graph of just all gun related deaths in general? Also, if they pass a law that allows current owners to be grandfathered in, i think they'd get a lot more support on it. The problem with the data I’ve seen is gun deaths include suicides - which, while incredibly tragic, trust me I understand fully from my past - does throw the numbers off SIGNIFICANTLY. I agree with Austin here on a personal level. A grandfather law would be quite the difference. I personally don’t own guns and don’t want to (although that might be my Aussie side showing up). I think Americans have a unique viewpoint of “fuck you I’ll do what I want”, so an actual gun ban wouldn’t work fully. Very few gun owners would comply. Plus, we have enough criminal activity in general that it wouldn’t actually fully work (because when have, for example, gangs cared about the laws?). I personally don’t see a need for a gun, but I live in a tiny-ass village where you’d know who shot at you. If I lived in, say, Chicago or Detroit I might feel different, who knows. It’s very complex, and, no offense, more complex than a lot of Americans see it. We’re so far down this road we can’t just reverse course. On a personal note, I don’t like guns. Don’t enjoy shooting them, have never wanted one. Archery, however? That shit’s dope as hell.
